I’ve been thinking about what the hell I’m going to do with my main domain (after switching home base domains, like, what, three or four times now?), wanting to put a catch-all site together, and serendipitously I somehow came across Chris’ site. I really like the idea of how it’s put together; part weblog, part personal wiki-like, part photo gallery. You know, one of those old-style personal sites. Like some of us used to have before we outsourced to Flickr and/or Vox and/or Wordpress.com and/or Tumblr and/or Dopplr and/or Twitter and/or Delicious and/or Magnolia and/or MySpace and/or Virb and/or blah blah frickety blah blah blah. Oh god I’m gonna cry now.
I really like the design and overall feel. Clean but it feels warm. It’s all the photos, I think; Chris heads up every blog post with one, which is great. Gold star, plus an extra puffy sticker since he’s a fellow fuzzy homo. — jaschu
You’re so right about this. It feels very personal and inviting. I don’t mind my online self being “outsourced” as you call it to all those other sites, but I do sometimes long for a simple way to bring it all back together, present one identity to the world, and still maintain most of the control over the look and feel. I think I will poke around in Chris’ site for a while and see what I can learn. Thanks for the link!
